Shamanic mountain hike
(18 th - 21 st of July 2011)
Advanced course 4
day shamanic hike in the mountain wilderness in Artic Sápmi (Lapland) - Northern Scandinavia.
We start from a place in Sápmi where it is easy to get to by public transportation. The first day we hike into the magnificent mountain wilderness and make camp. We get to know each other, and in the evening we start the shamanic work. The second and third day we don't hike with our backpacks on but work with shamanism and can go for walks in the surrounding landscape. You must carry your own stuff and a part of the group's equipment and provisions. We bring a large lightweight lavvu (tent) with us, that we can all sleep in. The fourth day we hike back to the place where we started. The
trip is a shamanic field expedition, where we make a
discovery-journey into the mysteries and magic of nature. On the
way you can work with shamanic trance work i.e. trance-walking in nature, healing and plant
medicine (spirit medicine) - and how to colaborate with the plants, rocks, animals and
nature spirits. In nature shamanism the manufacturing and use of plant medicine has a very important place.
I will also talk about the nature shamanic
way of life. You can learn to read omens in nature and about
their meaning for you and your fate. I will also talk about the
history and geology of the mountains – about the animals
and plants. The trip is also meant to be a course in how to make your way in the mountain wilderness. You can learn to read a map and use a compass and GPS navigator. You can learn about equipment and cooking – and how you react psychologically to being totally isolated from civilisation. I have 30 years artic wilderness experience. It is my hope you will come to feel confident about making your own shamanic wilderness hikes in the future. To practise shamanism on nature's terms can by very different from practising shamanism on civilization's terms. Date:
